My Faith Is Weak!

My Faith is Weak!
by Kelly Woodcox

Is it?

The Bible says, “Without faith, it is impossible to please God, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him” (Heb 11:6).

Is your faith weak? Or are you not seeking God? I have found that most people who say that their faith is weak or say “I just don’t feel like I have faith”, are really saying “I am not into God’s word enough”.

This statement alone (Heb 11:6) says he rewards those who seek Him! Yes faith can be weak! But the only way to make your faith strong is to seek God no matter what and He rewards you. If you don’t seek Him, what rewards do you get? How can you have a testimony of faith if you haven’t recieved anything?

Hbr 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

If there is evidence of things “not seen” does that mean they will never be seen?

Hbr 11:2
For by it the elders obtained a good report (or testimony).

Now this comes from the KJV. There are other versions that say it a little different. But what this says” Is that if you have faith in God He will work in your life and you will have testimony (proof in your own life)!

It seems pretty plain to me in this KJV translation.

Noah had faith in God telling him to build the ark! No on else believed him. This is just one reaffirmation that seeking God and having faith in Him will give give good report. Noah and his family survived right? Noah then had proof in his own life that faith worked!

Faith is not just some kind of believe in Santa or the Easter Bunny kind of thing! You don’t get anything from believing in nothing. You get disappointed when you find out the Bunny isn’t real!

God wont let you down! Even when things seem bad, He works them out for good!

Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose.

Don’t just say…All things work together for good. Read the whole verse! You must love God and you must be called according to purpose. That means effort! If you are called to do something – you have to do it! Does God want us reading His word? Does He want us to serve Him? Does He have a special purpose for each of us? What does the bible say about these questions????

It is up to us to make the effort. We don’t just sit around and wait for things to happen. You will likely face disappointment after disappointment if you are sitting and waiting for God to give you a word or direction without picking up your BIBLE!

Why do you think people stuck in sin blame God? Because they obviously don’t read the word of God, they don’t claim His promises and they just sit and expect something for nothing.

God gave us eyes to see and ears to hear. He did that for a reason. If He never gave them to all of us to begin with “WE WOULDN’T KNOW THE DIFFERENCE” right?

Well the fact is, He did! He gave us eyes to read it and ears to hear it. Now we’re not going to get into those that have physical blindness and are deaf. Remember Helen Keller? That should say enough. It was the eyes and ears of others that taught her and even she, discovered Faith. Think of all the effort she had to put into it.

We are blessed if we can see and hear. Appreciate that and pick up your bible and read it.

It seems like we don’t have a problem turning on the TV for entertainment or the history and discovery channel for knowledge.

So why do we have a problem picking up the most important thing?

Do you say to yourself, “I know enough”? Well you don’t! We will never know everything!!!
Only God knows everything. Those who sought after Him in the days the bible were written were given revelation, inspiration and authority!

Today isn’t any different. God offers revelation, inspiration and authority! SEEK IT!

What amazes me is there are all of these seminars out there that cost hundreds even thousands of dollars to go to and individuals and companies are getting rich off of it. Seminars on prosperity, assertiveness, self-help…you name it they are out there! Whether these people realize it or not. Guess where the information is for free? If you guessed “God’s Word” you’re right.

The devil would like to make us think we don’t need God’s word. He would like all of these people to know they can “get what they need in life” without the teaching of God’s word. This happened right from the beginning with Adam and Eve (and the serpent).

The thing is they will always be missing something. They will live for the moment or from seminar to seminar but will never have eternal life with Jesus! What a waste of time.

Think about it before you turn on that TV. Would God want me to watch this program or read His word?

I’m not saying to never watch TV and never have any fun times. But what I’m saying should be clear enough. The Pastors of our churches don’t just say “Read Your Bible” for something to fill up their sermon time. They tell you this for a reason.

You may never know that reason if you don’t do it AND do it consistently.

If you think reading a verse a day is enough. You may be very well disappointed.

Spend a good amount of time with God! If church was enough God wouldn’t have inspired (breathed) His word into men for us to have. Although church is very important (Jesus himself went to church) we still have the bible for a reason.

Do you think I’m not guilty of slacking? Well I am. But I can tell you that when I do spend time in God’s word things happen! God reveals Himself and the only thing that can happen after that is faith and more faith.

Challenging? Yes! Hard to do? Yes! Rewarding? Yes!

Think of some things you can cut out of your day to spend time with God. Don’t make excuses. Nothing is more important! God needs to be First!

God Bless You!

On that note. Every time you hear “God Bless You”! Remember how He blesses you!
